I don't even know what to say in today's post, except TGIF!!




Whew! It's been a looooong and interesting week towards the end of summer. I finished up reading Bath Tangle, I felt tremors from an earthquake that hit Virginia, am now preparing to stay indoors this weekend due to the effects of Hurricane Irene and I caught Diego in this signature pose on my couch. Doesn't he look like he's doing yoga? He's such a little nut and never fails to make me laugh.

Hello everyone, TGIF. This Friday couldn't have come soon enough for me. Going back to work after vacation was not a fun thing.

This weekend I hope to catch up on blog hopping, get some reading in and most important of all, celebrate hubby's 39th birthday tomorrow.




I'll leave you with a few pics of Diego. He seems to think whenever I lounge on my couch to read or watch tv, it's an invite for him to jump on me. He's been known to actually throw himself onto whatever book I'm reading, in order to get some attention for himself.

Last night I was lying down on my couch reading Pretty by Jillian Lauren (which is really good so far by the way)...






...and this is what Diego was doing. I was on my side, and he threw himself onto my hip. He wound up falling asleep there.

I went to the beach last week, in a heat wave no less. The temps rose to 105.






When I woke up that morning to get ready, this is what Diego was doing:





Cuddled up under a comforter. He refused to move from this position, even though I was calling him to come outside for his morning potty break.


I think the combination of the cool air conditioning plus being comfy under a blanket was too enticing for him to have to get up. Plus of course, he needs his beauty sleep.

We arrived early in the morning, there was hardly anyone there yet. It was really nice and peaceful.

Took a break from the sun to eat pizza across the street.












Back at the beach to lay out and relax some more.








All in all, it was a fantastic day at the Jersey Shore.

With Memorial Day weekend just having passed, summer has unofficially arrived. We had a busy weekend here with opening up our pool and bbq'ing.


Now, whenever we bbq and invite family over, my sister brings her Morkie (maltese/yorkie), Archie.
Archie is Diego's cousin, but Diego tends to be snooty-patootie and wants to be left alone. Diego is older, he's 2 1/2 and Archie is barely 2 years old.

(My younger sister is a copy-cat and shortly after I got Diego, she decided she wanted a small dog too) But anyway....



Our two dogs are very different, Archie tends to be more hyper and playful, Diego tends to be more laid back. I think deep down inside, my spoiled Diego doesn't believe he himself is a dog, so why play with another dog?




I tried to get a photo of the two of them together, but it was near impossible.

On a reading note, summertime does make me want to sit out on my back porch with a nice cold glass of something, iced green tea preferably, and a good book. Which is just how I've been spending these past few afternoons.

I know that seems like a lot of reading, but I'm nearly done with Through the Looking Glass and Forever. I'll finish up Losing Beauty next while Under The Dome will probably take me a few weeks to get through.

I will say, I'm enjoying all of these books.

I've been totally hooked on Animal Planets tv program called Fatal Attractions. In a nutshell, it's a show about everyday people who have deadly pets.

Watching the show and seeing footage of these people interacting with these animals actually makes me nervous.

I really wonder why these people risk their lives this way. I don't think these wild animals are meant to be pets. It's not the animals fault when it does what is in its nature to do.

What do you think of this? Do you have a pet that can be dangerous? Or do you know of anyone who does?

My 7 lb Diego is quite harmless ;) The pic above is of him cuddled up yesterday morning. He's in his fav blanket and still has his coat on after his morning bathroom break outside. It snowed again yesterday.

This week, for a Geeky assignment, how about a picture? A self portrait of sorts. I think it would be fun if you all took a picture of yourself (or have someone help you most likely) reading your current book (so we can see what it is) in your favorite reading spot. Then post it! It can be a Wordless Weekly Geek if you want! Or explanations included if you want that.

I tend to curl up on the futon in my computer room when I want some peace and quiet. This is also where my main bookshelves are. It's a nice reading spot, plus there's a window on the opposite wall which is really nice on rainy days.

I like the sound of rain while I read. My chihuahua Diego does like to cuddle up with me.





I'm currently re-reading Wuthering Heights.

TGIF everyone. I'm sooooo glad the weekend is here. We actually had more snow here last night and the children lucked out today with a snow day. I did work, but am home already and looking forward to my weekend.

I hope to get some reading and even some crocheting done. Hubby & I rented the movie The Town, so we'll be watching that tonight. I've been wanting to see it.

As far as reading goes, I'm tweaking my review of Blood of My Brother and hope to have it up this coming week. I'm currently re-reading Wuthering Heights and am about halfway through.

Hello blogging friends, I hope those of you who celebrate had a wonderful Christmas.
I love this time of year, spent with family and friends, but I am glad when it's finally over. It's so hectic at times with all the hustle and bustle.



We had a very nice Christmas here. Christmas eve I was very busy cooking and baking up a storm here at home. My sister came to visit and the two of us wound up having a glass of wine after dinner and watching Love Actually while the children played. Christmas Day we all gathered at my mom's house and had a really nice time with good food and family.



Santa was indeed very good to me, he got me the Canon Powershot camera, which I love. I was in need of a new camera badly. Hubby went a picked out a great one.





My son gave me a barnes and nobles gift card and a book light. His gift made me tear up of course.

The children were so excited on Christmas morning, they woke hubby and myself up at around 7am. Santa was good to them too. My daughter requested all things Justin Bieber. I'm sooooo waiting for her to get over the whole J.B. thing. I don't tell her but I think Justin Bieber is one of the most annoying people on the planet at the moment...lol.





Here are a few photos I took with my new camera :) The one above is of Diego yesterday while I was walking him.



This is Diego mid-yawn on Christmas morning as the children were opening their gifts. He looks like he's laughing.






These are my fruit tarts. I make these every Christmas. If anyone is interested, the recipe is no-bake and really simple.

All you need are the prepared graham cracker crusts. The little ones that come in tin foil cups. You can find them in the baking section at the supermarket.
You take one can of sweetened condensed milk and one bar of Philadelphia cream cheese.

In a bowl, blend the condensed milk and cream cheese with an electric mixer. Keep blending it well until it's smooth and creamy. I like to break up the cream cheese first with a spoon for easier blending. Once it's nice and smooth, add in a tablespoon of lemon juice, to offset the sweetness a bit. Blend it some more.
Then spoon the filling into the cups and refrigerate at least three hours or until the filling is somewhat firm. I prefer to leave them overnight to set. Right before serving, top with a bit of fruit. I like to use raspberries. Viola :)

And now that Christmas is over, we are awaiting the first snow storm of the season.
The white stuff started falling already and is supposed to continue throughout tomorrow morning (just in time for my Monday morning commute). I'll be sure to take some pics with my new camera and post them in the upcoming week. Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Today is Diego's birthday! He's two years old.


When I first brought Diego home, he was a surprise for my children.




Before we knew it, he became a big part of our family. He's spunky, funny and sweet.

We all fell in love with him.
