#25 Kansas Jayhawks

With 25 days remaining until the first Saturday of college football; I will release my top 25 college football teams for 2009 day by day. Everyday I will post my next team until we reach number one on September 5th. The first team and number 25 on this list is the Kansas Jayhawks.

Follow the jump for the full team preview.

Kansas returns three big names on offense. The first name is QB Todd Reesing who threw for 3,888 yards and 32 TD's in the 2008 season. Reesing is a very talented player with a heart to fill up his 5'11 frame. He has the ability to throw the ball all over the field, and the talent at WR to catch it. Reesing is a proven team leader and ready to make a statement in 09'.

Now that we have already mentioned the WR's let's take a look at who they are. The key WR for the Jayhawks this season is Dezmon Briscoe. He was the third leading receiver in the NCAA last season and has talent for days. He scored 15 TD's last year and racked up 1,407 yards. He will be one of the best WR's in the country, and will be Reesing's go to target.

The other key WR is Kerry Meier, he went for 1,045 yards and 8 TD's in 08'. He will help take pressure off of Briscoe and be able to make tons of plays on his own. These two wideouts makeup one of the better tandums in the country, and have to potential to be very explosive.

The third big name for the Jayhawks offense is Jake Sharp. He is sometimes a forgotten man because the Jayhawks have such an electric passing game. Nevertheless Sharp put of very respectable numbers last season with 860 yards and 12 TD's. If Sharp can keep those legs churning and keep the defense honest this 09' Jayhawks offense will be very impressive.

Now let's move over to the defensive side of the ball. The Jayhawks certainly lack star power on this side of the ball. Their Defense is thin in spots and will have a lot to prove in 09'.

Although thin on defense they do have some studs. Jake Laptad is a strong DE and can cause a lot of trouble for the opposition. He recorded 7 sacks last year and will be asked by coaches to step up and help fill the voids.

Another player coaches will look to is Darrell Stuckey. Stuckey lead the team with 98 tackles last season and will have to step up again this year. Stuckey has incredible talent and is able to roam all over the field to make plays. These two players will need to step up this season for the Jayhawks to have continued success.

Players to Watch: Dezmon Briscoe, Todd Reesing

Projected Record: 9-3

Thought he was going down at least twice...

Oh, and they have a great coach.
