The Eagles have never won a Super Bowl in their history, but the 2011 version of the team definitely could pull it off. Philly traded Kevin Kolb last week to the Cardinals in return for Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie and a 2012 second round pick. The Eagles then signed free agent defensive linemen Jason Babin, who had a break out season in 2010. What surprised a lot of people was when the team signed free agent prize Nnamdi Asomugha. Now the team had a secondary of Asomugha, Cromartie, and Asante Samuel (expected to be traded). The final pieces of the "dream team" were Vince Young and Cullen Jenkings. Even though I said that everyone should wait to build up this team before they hit they field, the Eagles are now one of the most talented teams in the NFL. Many have called them the Heat of the NFL, which would mean one thing: everyone wants to beat you. Its like the Eagles are the defending Super Bowl champs, the target painted on these guys backs will be huge every Sunday.

Now to the team that is actually defending their Super Bowl Championship, the Packers. Last season Green Bay had the more players on injured reserve then any other team. In 2011 the Packers will get all those players back and will be a formidable opponent for everyone who faces them. The Packers will get the best version of their 16 opponents this season. It won't be a problem considering that the Packers are one of the most talented teams in the NFL. Sure they don't have as many big names as the Eagles, but QB Aaron Rodgers and head coach Mike McCarthy make it work. Even though the Eagles and Packers don't meet in the regular season, they will meet in the playoffs. Probably the NFC Championship Game. Even though the Packers are the Super Bowl Champions, many teams can grow to hate the "dream team" Eagles because of the talk that has started before the team hit the field.

This crazy and hectic free agent frenzy is not over yet, provided by the fact that the Jets signed free agent WR Plaxico Burress. For two years, Burress was in prison and before that he was one of the most talented WR's in the league. He most notably helped the Giants win Super Bowl XLII over the Patriots. Now, the Jets hope Burress can help them do the same thing by playing opposite of Santonio Holmes. Braylon Edwards, who played opposite of Holmes in 2010, seems like he will be looking for work somewhere else. The contract is a one year deal with about $3 million guaranteed. Burress was the fifth best player available and the Jets did a smart thing by signing him.

I've decided to split my hair in the middle, for amusement and killing my boredom. I have a natural middle parting and have not graced one since I was about 12 years old. I associate them with my awkward pre-teen stage and just do not think they suit me. However, after about 10 minutes of wearing one.. I've grown to sort of (emphasis on the sort of) like it? I don't think I'll have the nerve to wear it out of the house though, it will take a while to get used to. I'm heading out tonight with friends, seeing as it's a glorious Bank Holiday here in Ireland!
Went for quite a heroin chic makeup look today, grungey eyes and vampish lips.

Surely, there has to be some waste

Speaking for myself, I can see clearly why some costs are unnecessary and just tagged on to profit from Medicare.

Let’s begin with my primary physician, he wants me in there at least twice a year even if there is nothing wrong with me; his take is billed directly to the insurance company and yes, I don’t pay anything out of pocket for it…not directly.

Then we have the specialists who need a referral and they too get a cut of Medicare…oftentimes requesting unnecessary tests that have a deductible co-payment that I have to pay for out of pocket…and some of these, even with my limited knowledge of medicine…I know are unnecessary.

You also have to face the fact that if you suffer some serious ailment the medicines are so expensive one would think that ground gold goes into their manufacture. Some of these medications are mandatory if one wishes to stay alive.

There are hospitals…those money-hungry institutions that exist for profit. They charge you for a room on a daily basis that far exceeds a five star hotel in cost. Yet, the rooms are dank and devoid of the luxuries one finds at these hotels. Additionally, the food you are given is not fit for human or animal consumption.

Lastly you have the insurance companies…those good for nothing businesses that exist for the sole reason of making a profit. These insurance companies do not perform any useful function, they are actually deniers of claims and de-facto DEATH PANELS….in other words…they are true parasites of society...they are motivated by

Our country lags behind other industrialized nations in the healthcare provided and the costs are oftentimes twice as much. Yet, you hear assholes like Hucklebee go on television with this ad urging the viewers to call so that OBAMACARE can be repealed because if you don’t, then irreparable damage will be done to our economy and our healthcare system. Really? The only damage I can see if we had what we all want: UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE is the health insurance companies out of the equation.

What we need in America is UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE, yes, FUCKING SOCIALIST, NOT FOR PROFIT, GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTH CARE.

This has been a crazy week of free agency and trades. Even though big names like Nnamdi Asomugha and Kevin Kolb are gone, teams can look to these players for some help.

5. Plaxico Burress- Before going to prison, Burress was one of the biggest weapons for the Giants and QB Eli Manning. Burress helped the G-Men pull of one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl XLII against the Patriots. Even though Burress is 33, he is getting attention from many teams other then the Giants. Teams like the Steelers, 49ers, Rams, and Eagles have also shown interest. Wherever Burress ends up he will definitely help a team win if he can keep his act together.

Destination: Eagles

4. Ty Warren- One of the only remaining players left from the Patriots dynasty, Warren looks for work elsewhere as a eight year veteran. New England released Warren after he failed his physical on Friday. On Saturday night he met with the Denver Broncos even though he would either play for the Cowboys or the Texans. Warren grew up in Texas and also went to Texas A&M. Even though Warren has lost some speed in his step, playing opposite of Mario Williams could definitely help Houston out.

Destination: Texans
3. Kyle Orton- Once the answer at QB for the Broncos after they traded Jay Cutler to the Bears, Orton seems like he is on his way out of Denver. The Dolphins seemed like the only team interested and were ready to trade for Orton, but the talks have gone dead. While they are dead, it is not unrealistic to think that a deal between Miami and Denver can get done in the next couple of weeks. Even though the Bengals have not been in the talks for Orton, they need to start negotiating because they only have rookie Andy Dalton at QB.

Destination: Broncos
2. Antonio Cromartie- With Nnamdi Asomugha and Johnathon Joseph off the market, Cromartie is the best CB left for teams to sign. After the Jets lost in the Asomugah sweepstakes, they turned their attention to signing free agents in the secondary. New York already re-signed safety Eric Smith and Cromartie could be next. Cromartie did say that he would not give any teams, "a hometown discount," and could go for the big money with other teams. Teams like the 49ers, who just released Nate Clements, could really use Cromartie for their secondary even though he could be a distraction for first year head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Destination: Jets
1. Asante Samuel- Before the Eagles signed Nnamdi Asomugha, this was not going to happen. Now problems with Asomugha's and Desean Jackson's contract has emerged. This could lead Philadelphia to trade Samuel and break up the "dream team" before it gets on the field. Samuel has not shown up to training camp for "personal reasons" and could be in another uniform in the next couple of weeks. The 49ers names again show up because of their glaring need at the position. Of course the Cardinals and Cowboys could also use Samuel, but not as much as San Francisco.

Destination: 49ers

What are some other big names out there? Tell me in the comment section below.

And it is not about the debt ceiling or even about the budget or deficits…it is about forcing upon our country a very misguided agenda.

The thorough destruction of all our safety nets, the elimination of regulations that were already watered down to begin with and the climate of placing the interests of the wealthy and the corporations instead of WE, THE PEOPLE is what is taking place.

From Social Security to Medicare and Medicaid, from eliminating agencies that protect the consumers and offer safety requirements like the EPA to EDUCATION; the Republicans are on a pillage and plunder trek leaving no middle class person untouched, raping the dignity of those who are already poor and offering nothing in return…only more of the same…which is to say: MORE MONEY FOR THE WEALTHY AND THE CORPORATIONS; it is a veritable WELFARE STATE for those on the top of the food chain.

Yes, the government is too big and can’t do anything right, the government is the problem…it is the problem for the rich, it is the thorn on the side of corporations because they have to abide by the laws and pay their fair share of taxes, or, put another way: government is a problem when it is in the hands of Republicans.

Our government is as big as it needs to be for a nation that is the number one world power and it is not a question of having a spending problem; although we could cut spending on stupid wars and defending countries that need no defense while we borrow the money to do this from these very countries…how ironic is that?

But what we actually have is a REVENUE problem…tax cuts and loopholes, subsidies to corporations that are making oodles of money…that is what we have, that is what is causing the deficits.

This short and crazy signing period has been great for a lot of teams, but has hurt some of their division rivals...

Kolb to the Cardinals- We all knew that eventually Kevin Kolb would end up in Arizona. Some of us dreamed of Kolb throwing the ball to Larry Fitzgerald and what it would do for a fantasy teams, but the Rams aren't excited. Before this trade, the Rams were the clear favorites to win the NFC West. Not that they can't now, but it will just be more difficult with a QB that could possibly be better then Sam Bradford in the division. It all comes down to the QB if you want to win. St. Louis couldn't win on the road last year (they were 2-6) and they will have to turn that around if the want to win the West.

McNabb to the Vikings- Right after the lockout ended, I listed five things that would happen in 2011. One of those guarantees was that the Lions would make the playoffs and only if QB Matthew Stafford can stay health. I might want to back up on my predictions because the NFC North just got a lot more difficult. The Vikings traded to sixth round picks to the Redskins for Donovan McNabb. Even though Sidney Rice left Minnesota, McNabb will still have Percy Harvin, Vinsathe Shiancoe, and a running back named Adrian Peterson. Even if Stafford is able to stay healthy, the Vikings will be a really tough team to beat for a wild card spot. Sorry Detroit, but it just seems like you guys can't catch a break.

Johnson to the Patriots- This has been the most surprising trade of the week. Nobody would of guessed that the flamboyant Chad Johnson would be a Patriot and would have to refrain from using twitter for the upcoming 2011 season. Even though Johnson is over rated, he now has what he never had in Cincinnati. A Hall of Fame QB throwing him the ball (no offence Carson Palmer). What is bad about this for the Jets is that after they re-signed Santonio Holmes, they sat around waiting for Nnamdi Asomugha to make a decision on where he wanted to go while the Patriots made a splash in free agency. Everyone was almost certain it was New York, until Asomugha chose Philadelphia. Now for the Jets, they have lost Brad Smith and Braylon Edwards is apparently next. Re-signing Antonio Cromartie is key to the Jets to fill the hole that Asomugha was supposed to take. Not even Darelle Revis can cover all those talented WR's in New England himself.

Asomugha to the Eagles- For this whole week, free agent Nnamdi Asomugha held every team that wanted him hostage. That included the Jets who basically let two of their best players go. That includes the 49ers, who released Nate Clements in order to sign Asomugha. The team that wasn't held hostage, the Eagles, signed the biggest prize in free agency to date. Even Philly's rival, the Cowboys, nearly landed Asomugha before the Eagles flew in and snatched him. Now Dallas has to overcome the Eagles "dream team" in order to bounce back from a disappointing 2010 campaign. Not only did the Eagles sign Asomugha, but they also got Jason Babin, Cullen Jenkins, DRC, and they could even get Plaxicco Burress. Yikes Cowboys fans.

Arguably, these pharmaceuticals are making a killing on HIV and other life saving drugs for other life threatening illnesses.

CALL IT SKEPTICISM. CALL IT IGNORANCE BUT I REALLY DON’T TRUST DRUG MANUFACTURERS

It has become sufficiently clear that some of these drugs are way overpriced. The drug manufacturer claims that it is investing in research, testing and such so that they are in a spot where they must charge those prices in order for the drug to be profitable for them…really?

I clearly could see if there was a 50% mark up after they are through deducting the cost of research, testing, manufacturing and the ingredients…and still have enough left over to make a very handsome profit. But it is ludicrous to think that a 500% or even higher percentage mark-up is justified.

Then there is the question of whether these drug manufacturers are reputable and on the level…what prevents them from putting a bunch of ingredients in one pill and leaving out a key element and then making a companion drug that contains only that ingredient missing from the first drug?…in reality what it amounts to is selling a near placebo…you see how they tell you that a certain drug must be taken together with this other one…they don’t recommend it, they require it.

The cost of these drugs is exorbitant…one would think that they actually put ground up gold in them, but in reality some of the ingredients are quite common and inexpensive.

The government of Brazil has embarked upon a project where they are now manufacturing generic drugs that are the most used and the most expensive when they are brand names. As a consequence, because of the competition even those name brand drugs are considerably lower in price than in America; and of course the generic is quite affordable. Call it SOCIALISM, I don’t care but I also think that it is unethical to make a profit out of people’s misery and it is IMMORAL to make an obscene profit out of it.

But when all is said and done; I really don't have that big a beef with the drug manufacturers because at least they produce something...a medicine that is going to keep people alive...they sell a product...albeit at an exorbitant price and that is my main resentment towards them. Unlike the health insurance companies that don't produce anything, don't offer a useful service, they don't even take the risks that would be the reason for their existence...they are true parasites.

But the issue remains that if you can’t afford them and have no access to some charitable organization that will provide it, HIV people will simply die…CAN YOU SAY “DEATH PANELS?”

There have been protests nationwide in front of the corporate headquarters of these pharmaceuticals…the protests go unnoticed, no publicity and thus they are not ashamed into lowering the costs.

Merck’s Isentress: Salvage Therapy versus First-Line Use

Initially approved in October 2007 by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a salvage therapy, the FDA subsequently expanded its approval of Merck’s Isentress for use as a first-line course of treatment in HIV/AIDS, a move which both greatly expanded the U.S. market for the drug and makes Merck’s antiretroviral (ARV) Isentress the most expensive first-line treatment on the market. When it first came to market, Merck set the Average Wholesale Price (AWP) of Isentress at $12,150 per patient yearly. Merck has since raised the AWP of Isentress to $12,895 — a more than 5% price hike — since its introduction to market.

At minimum, Isentress must be taken with at least two other HIV/AIDS drugs as part of an effective antiretroviral treatment regimen, pushing the overall price of one Isentress patient’s yearly AIDS drugs to between $20,000 and $30,000. Public programs (federal and state) are the largest purchaser of ARV medications in the country, with Medicare and Medicaid the single largest payer for HIV/AIDS care in the U.S.

The Department of Health and Human Services treatment guidelines include several preferred treatment options for first-line patients. These options provide the same clinical benefit as Isentress but cost less. For example, Isentress — which must be taken with two additional AIDS drugs — costs nearly as much as an entire three-drug regimen of Viread, Emtriva and Sustiva, commonly combined in Gilead Sciences’ three-in-one tablet, Atripla.

The Eagles have one of the best QB's in the game. They have one of the best WR's in the game. Now, they have one of the best secondaries in the game. After trading back-up Kevin Kolb to the Cardinals, Philly received a second round pick and CB Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie. Then out of nowhere, the Eagles landed the biggest prize that was available, CB Nnamdi Asomugha. The Eagles now have a secondary that includes Cromartie, Asomugha, and Asante Samuel. It is believed that the Eagles will trade Samuel away for cap space, but no team has showed interest yet. With the signing of Asomugha and Chris Carr, the CB market is thin, and the Eagles phones will be ringing off the hook. As for the Eagles front seven, they recently signed DE's Jason Babin and Cullin Jenkins to go along with Trent Cole. I know Eagles fans are saying Super Bowl, but hold on with your predictions and lets see this thing work on the field. The Eagles still need to get their best weapon into training camp and that could come at a high price which could lead them to trade Samuel. Philly also signed Vince Young to a one year deal to be Michael Vick's back-up, which is a good move considering Vick might not be healthy for all 16 games next season. The Eagles are a scary team with Asomugha and all their other new players, but can they make it work on the field. I know Andy Reid is one of the best coaches in the NFL, but what happens if Philadelphia fails to reach Super Bowl XLVI? Who will be the one person to blame? You know the answer and I know the answer, it will be the head coach. I think the Eagles are favorites to win the NFC East and de-throne the Packers in the NFC, but lets wait until the regular season to crown Philadelphia as a dream team. Die Hard football fans know that the greater the expectations, the greater the fall. Just look at the Cowboys last season. They had one of the best QB's in the game and dreams of hosting their own Super Bowl, but they crumbled under the pressure. I'm not saying that will happen to the Eagles, but lets lighten up on the predictions.

Over the past two years, Rex Ryan and the Jets have been entertaining, but they also have been really consistent when it comes to winning. They have made it to two straight AFC Championship Games and have also won four playoff games on the road. Their most important date, as I already stated, was Tuesday because that is the day that teams must get under the new salary cap. The Jets have already re-signed WR Santonio Holmes, but has already let return specialist Brad Smith go. It was due to the fact that the team was making room for Nnamdi Asomugha, who wound up with the Eagles. It seems like the Jets have started Plan B, but it might be a little to late for that. New York has already re-signed safety Eric Smith to a three year contract and CB Antonio Cromartie could be next. Of course, Cromartie has already stated that he wouldn't give the Jets "a hometown discount" and could be leaving the Big Apple soon. Cromartie has already drawn interest from the 49ers, among other teams in need of a CB (Cowboys, Lions, Bucs). After the signing of Asomugha and Jonathon Joseph, the CB market got weak. Besides Cromartie, the only other respectable CB  on the market is Chris Carr, who is reportedly close to re-signing with the Ravens. Back to the offense, WR Braylon Edwards seems like he is on his way out because the Jets don't want to re-sign him. Apparently his asking price is to high, but Edwards will defiantly get interest from other teams like the Vikings and the Redskins. With Edwards gone, the Jets are in the market for a WR like James Jones or even Randy Moss.

There will be a stock market crash or some economic crisis that will wipe out all of our savings

Please don’t tell me that it can’t happen…it already has as I can attest…I lost my pension in 2008. You see, these boys who administer all these private pensions are just salivating at the prospect of privatized Social Security. They are looking forward with great expectations the flood of money that will come from the general public who will be trusting and enthusiastic about having their “private nest egg” and that big government is out of the picture, out of their lives. And don't tell me it is not my money...I contributed to it beginning in 1960...so I am entitled.

Sure, it will run for a few years without glitches until there are enormous amounts accumulated and then these geniuses in Wall Street will fabricate some Ponzi scheme, they will create an economic crisis and all those savings will be wiped out.

This of course suits the Republican-Teahadists just fine because the greater the number of people in need, poor and destitute, the cheaper labor will be; besides, looking at it from a purist point of view…Social Security is SOCIALISM, as is MEDICARE, MEDICAID, WELFARE and PUBLIC EDUCATION as well as all those REGULATIONS that make it more difficult for capitalists to operate dishonestly.

We are already seeing efforts in Florida to demonize Welfare recipients by making them take drug tests; the implication being that people on welfare are deadbeats on drugs. The intended plan of action is to eliminate Welfare altogether in Florida so that the state can give more money to the rich and the corporations…but isn’t that also SOCIALISM IN REVERSE? Isn’t that like a welfare state but instead of benefiting the poor it benefits the wealthy…Robin Hood in reverse, if you will?. If you make people think that welfare recipients are drug addicts then it will be easier to eliminate the program altogether without much public opposition.

In the big picture, in the greater scheme of things the Republican-Teahadists know exactly what the intended result will be to eliminate all social safety nets: money will stop flowing and there will be a horrible economic crisis…unemployment will soar and you will hear them saying that it is all President Obama’s fault and the horrible socialist harm Democrats have brought to our nation.

Republican-Teahadists are not going to be satisfied until there are millions of people living in tents under the freeway overpasses.

I felt nauseous yesterday when I heard about this woman commentator (I don’t even want to mention her toxic name) on Fox who was expressing disdain for all our social networks and the money that has gone into them…begrudging that our nation has spent all these funds when they could have been re-directed to fight these two wars and we could have won them if only we didn’t have to pay those pesky little entitlement programs for trash on Medicare or on Welfare.

Yes, by all means, take away from the poor so you can use the money to kill more people abroad in a country that did not inflict any injury to ours. So by all means, begrudge the few hundred dollars we give some single mother to feed her children and not even bat an eyelash when we spend billions in stupid wars…that is so patriotic, so American, and so Christian.

According to Republican-Teahadist ideology, government is too big; it can’t do anything right and the only legitimate role for government is to police our bedrooms, our wombs and to force us to go to church.
