Glaucoma can be described as a eye desease that is caused by damages to the optic nerve which acts as a carrier to transfer the images to the brain.The worst side of the glaucoma is that it has no symptom in the early stages.In other words people who are effected by glaucoma may not know they have it.
Despite the medicine develops day by day ,unfortunately there is no cure for the glaucoma at the present.However surgery or medication can slow or prevent the further vision loss.As in all of other deseases ,it is very important to dedect the desease early in the glaucoma either.early detection has vital value.
Everyone may be at risk of glaucoma.Some certain people groups such as poeple over 60 years old,people who have any family members with galucoma,people who had eye injury,are at higher risk.
Other possible risk factors are:
- high myopia (nearsightedness)
- diabetes
- hypertension
- Central corneal thickness less than .5 mm.
