The Chanel 2.55

In my opinion, the greatest bag ever invented. Last year in particular, the majority of high-street shops copied the 2.55's look and it became very popular.

2.55 refers to when the bag was invented - February (2nd month) 1955, by Gabrielle Bonheur. All of the features of the bag have a story behind them. The original lining was brown, representing the colour of the uniforms of the convent she grew up in. There is a secret zipped compartment on the inside of the flap, where Coco used to hide her love letters. On the back there is also a flap, Coco used to hide her money in here for safety (what a clever woman..). The chain is based on the workers from the convent's belt straps, where they used to hold their keys. The original lock of the bag - the Mademoiselle lock - has now been replaced by the double C's, but the original bag with the lock is still available.
