This happened last month. This is one of the best hits I have posted here in a while. Every once in a while a hit comes a long that is just a bit better then the others, this is one of those.

Helmet comes off, ball gets knocked loose, receiver does not pop right back up. Also helps that the victim is not dead, hes moving around just fine...yikes.

Anyway you look at it this is a swaggy hit.

THEY CAN BE TRIGERED BY PENIS ENVY, BY ATTRACTION TO OTHER MALES OR BY SOME ERRONEOUS INTERPRETATION OF THE SCRIPTURES.

The one caused by religious fanaticism is one of the most difficult to overcome. It works not only on the individual who carries it deep in his subconscious but it affects others who come in contact with him. The feelings of guilt about anything sexual are bordering on paranoia.

There are many men who are tragically under-endowed; for these guys an indiscreet glance at their genitalia while taking a shower or changing in a locker room is all it takes to send them on a severe attack of apoplexy. These poor bastards are so insecure because they know that size makes them feel inferior.

Then there are those who are really in the closet. These are people who are clearly attracted to others of the same sex but have so many hang ups that they repress these feelings and they become ten times more disapproving and vocal in their homophobia. There are times when some of these are actually caught in some sordid little affair in a restroom trying to get sex from an undercover cop; or they may be followed by a reporter into some sleazy, cheap motel room with some rent-a-boy. These are the classic hypocrites.

For the life of me I don’t understand why John McCain continues on this tirade to keep DADT in place. Even after the report comes out recommending that we end it; John McCain still wants to delay it…no, wait, he wants to have a continuation of it…why? We really don’t know; but it gives room for speculation: could it be the size of his wiener is tragically small? Or is it his own insecurity about being attracted to other males. Maybe some unpleasant homosexual experience happened while he was a POW. Who knows; but the truth of the matter is that the man has become obsessed with this and a pain in the ass to America.

If we are going to analyze it in detail, gay people in the military will adhere to a code of conduct like everyone else. But suppose that some romance does flourish while in some lonely bunker in a forgotten country. These are two mature, consenting adults and there is nothing wrong with taking care of one’s physiological needs…you need to release your sperm just like you need to pee or take a dump. Please don’t tell me that servicemen don’t masturbate because that would be ridiculous.

Victor Fehrenbach, outstanding serviceman who served courageously was summarily discharged under DADT

But what we definitely can no longer have is this deprivation of the dignity and the exclusion from the military; not only because we need gays but also because it is wrong, totally immoral to discriminate. We live in America and we can’t have one segment of the population totally marginalized and deprived of their Constitutional rights because some asshole senator is homophobic.

You have to wonder about a guy who seems like he’d kiss up to anyone or bend and break his own principles just so that he can become president...Here he is with buddy Jerry Falwell.

John McCain was arguably a very handsome man when he was younger…no doubt he looked dashing in his uniform…could it be that he had some gay came on to him and he was insulted? He should not have been, he should have been flattered and say: “Hey, look, I thank you for the compliment but I am straight” and that would have taken care of the proposition…after all gays are not unlike straights in that situation…I am sure many straight men get turned down often when they come on to some female and it is not the end of the world for either one. .

Cindy, his own wife seems to get it…she is not homophobic and has supported LGBT causes in the past, much to the chagrin of her husband, I am sure.

- nope, Britain, where they're snowed under again

A consequence of the increasing availability of information and its sharing is WikiLeaks (and WikiSpooks). I think this is a good thing. WikiLeaks does on an international level what good personal relationships do on a smaller scale - it puts to shame that X-Files mantra of 'deceive, inveigle, and obfuscate.' There's a post about WikiLeaks at America magazine's blog - Wikileaks Embarrassing, but Not the End of Diplomacy in Our Times, and as Jeffrey Tucker is quoted in a Pray Tell post about the Roman Missal translation leaks, “Transparency is not the enemy of truth; it might even be its precondition.” I believe The truth shall set us free .... maybe someone could explain this concept to the Vatican :)

Anyway, this all reminded me of Daniel Ellsberg as there's a video of him posted at WikiLeaks ...

I had a 2008 post about him and the Pentagon Papers that now seems to be gone, but here it is again ....

Mentioning Daniel Berrigan SJ in my post of the other day reminded me of a made for tv movie I'd seen five years ago starring James Spader as Daniel Ellsberg ... The Pentagon Papers. I remember the movie being very interesting, especially given that it ran at the very time the Iraq war was beginning, and James Spader did a great job. The rest of the cast ... Paul Giamatti as Anthony Russo, Alan Arkin as Harry Rowen, and Claire Forlani as Patricia Marx. Reviews of the movie were not easy to come by, but I managed to find one from 2003 by John Leonard ......

**************************

Does Fox News know about this TV movie on its cable sibling? I mean, The Pentagon Papers not only valorizes Daniel Ellsberg, the rogue researcher at the Rand Corporation’s Santa Monica think tank who leaked 7,000 pages of a top-secret Department of Defense report on what went wrong in Vietnam, but also celebrates the New York Times, which published articles based on that leak; the Supreme Court, which voted six to three against prior restraint of such publication; and even the antiwar movement of the permissive sixties (all those pot-smoking weenies).

Casting James Spader as Ellsberg was inspired. From sex, lies, and videotape to Crash to Secretary, something else is always going on in Spader’s head while his body stands around in our world. When his impersonation of Ellsberg joins Rand colleague Anthony Russo (Paul Giamatti) for hard rock, soft drugs, kinky sex, and soul shriveling, you almost expect him to spank his car. Alan Arkin is rather wasted in the underwritten role of Harry Rowen, Ellsberg’s indulgent boss at Rand, and so is Jonas Chernick as Times reporter Neil Sheehan. But Claire Forlani (Basquiat, Meet Joe Black, AntiTrust) makes Ellsberg’s second wife, the socialite heiress Patricia Marx, more radically interesting on camera than she seems to be in the screenplay. As with Spader, there is activity behind her eyes.

To this mix add a director, Rod Holcomb, who has specialized in slam-bang pilots for television series like Wiseguy, The Equalizer, China Beach, and ER. And I also notice a credit to “consulting producer” John Sacret Young, who was the executive producer for China Beach, the best American artwork to emerge from the war in Vietnam this side of Robert Stone’s Dog Soldiers.

All the President’s Men appears to be the movie model The Pentagon Papers had in mind: heavy breathing, hold the mayo. Only the underground parking garage is missing; Ellsberg is his own Deep Throat. This is sometimes hokey, though the nighttime Xeroxing of so many thousands of pages by Ellsberg and his children—surely a bad idea, that one—had to have been fraught. Omitted are Ben Bagdikian, who collected volumes of the Pentagon Papers from Ellsberg for the Washington Post and told us so engagingly about it in an unassuming memoir; and Sidney Zion, who fingered Ellsberg as the source of the papers, for which Zion was reviled at the time by people like me who should have known better; and quite a lot of Ellsberg himself, who was much more erratic than the film hints at, and whose diva-based dramaturgy persists to this day.

Still, it’s refreshing to be reminded by a well-made entertainment that once upon a time there were consciences to be stricken, newspapers with some adversarial jumping beans, and an appreciation of the fact that—of course!—governments would rather we didn’t know classified secrets about themselves and their wars, because if we did know, a hitherto obedient demos might actually question policy instead of parroting it.

You don't usually see big hits when the RB is running down the sideline, especially that this kid is pretty fast. But a DB had an angle and got there with some serious force.

Good quality video, great hit and it's already Wednesday...were looking pretty good so far

IT IS ALL FOR SHOW, NOT REALLY EFFECTIVE AND IT COSTS A BUNDLE

I have not touched upon this subject in a while since I think it is part of the distraction hand-fed to us by Republicans. First it was BUSH WAR OF TERROR…not ON terror. It was meant to keep us docile while scaring the shit out of America.

Sadly, a continuation of the same under President Obama. Perhaps Americans just got so used to these searches and security procedures that it made no difference if they were effective or not as long as they made us feel secure.

I have said it before: If another attack is to take place it is not coming from the passenger on an airplane. I remember the humiliating search they did on my then 92 year old mother, on a wheelchair at the Seattle airport. They even asked us if we were Greek….WTF? Good grief, an old woman aged 92 is going to be blowing up the airplane? If any attack is to come is going to be in a container at one of our ports or in some other unthinkable form…remember the terrorists are very creative and always ahead of us in thinking up ways of hurting us.

My argument at the time was that they could see this old woman represented no threat nor would she be likely to be carrying anything in her thin, miniscule frame which also had a blouse on her that was almost transparent…what I was bitching about is the lack of common sense, the absence of logic behind what they had just done…and it did upset her and it did scared her when they did it. But I suppose it is far too much to ask to have these TSA employees use logic and common sense since they are refugees from the McDonalds and Burger King work pool.

Has anyone noticed that the “failed” terrorist attempts come at intervals?; the Jihadists send in some retard who thinks that if he can set his shoe on fire while on flight he will obtain martyrdom. This is not coincidence; the terrorists know what they are doing…it requires a minimum investment: some intellectually challenged individual and very little hardware and it is NOT MEANT TO GO OFF! But it is intended to keep the terror going and forcing governments to spend billions of dollars in useless security measures.

I think that someone else has said it better than I:

We have met the enemy

by Laurence Lewis

Sat Nov 27, 2010

Patrick Porter is a Senior Lecturer in Defense Studies at King's College London. A couple weeks ago, he had a terrific article in The Guardian, which summed up the failures of the past decade:

“The overestimation of our power and the underestimation of resistance has been a signature tune of the war on terror.

A seemingly simple lesson that defies the ongoing strategy devised and promoted by both the militants and the war profiteers. And he offers a different approach:

It's time for restraint over activism, for power conservation over its expenditure, for doing no harm over doing good. It means combating terrorism with ordinary police work and intelligence sharing and calibrated disruption. We should focus our military most on what it does most effectively: secure our territory and sea lanes, deter other states and exist as a wise insurance policy for emergencies. Let's try that for the next 10 years, and see where it takes us.

It also means being restrained in how we think. The world may be chaotic. But we are part of that chaos. Except in atypical circumstances, the military is not a surgical tool of political engineering, but a bludgeon wielded by specialists in violence. We therefore don't have the power to alter the political condition of others at our own timetable.

If we want to contain own worst enemy, it is time to look in the mirror.

Any time we declare war on an abstract concept, not only do we waste decades, we also fail to make things better: the war on poverty, the war on drugs, the war on terror. We need a different approach. We need a different way of conceiving our approach. War isn't the answer. War isn't the right idea. It's about bluster, not solving problems.”
