I won a copy of 'All The Pretty Girls' over at j.kaye's blog. Here is my review of this suspenseful thriller.
title: All The Pretty Girls
author: J.T. Ellison
genre: crime thriller
pages: 411
first line: 'No, please don't.'
rated: 4 out of 5
Homicide Lieutenant Taylor Jackson works in Nashville Tennessee. She is working on a case involving a serial killer, that the media has dubbed 'The Southern Strangler'. Taylor is working on the case with her love interest, FBI profiler, John Baldwin.
In the middle of all this, there is also a rapist on the loose...nicknamed 'The Rainman' since he only strikes when it rains.
I found this book to be creepy at times, full of suspense, with enough twists and turns to keep you hooked. The characters were likeable, the plot was believable and the storyline was interesting. It was an intense read. It kept me hooked till the very end!
'It all looks familiar. This is similiar to what i've seen in all the other girls' apartments. The unmade bed, the blood. I think he charms them, gets them to invite him home and into thier beds, then strangles them and cuts off thier hands. Transports the body to wherever he's picked next.'
I also enjoyed the love connection between Taylor and Baldwin.
Baldwin put the phone in his pocket and leaned against a sherrif's cruiser. He steepled his fingers in front of his mouth and blew out a sigh. In the midst of all this, he missed Taylor. She had saved him from himself, from the world of death and dying. She's saved his soul, which was more important to his continued living than a heartbeat would ever be. Just the thought of her made him smile. A moment alone with her would make everything better.
If you're in the mood for a suspenseful thriller, something to keep you guessing, I recommend this read.
Right away, this book reminded me of the TV show Law & Order
