title: The Tutu Ballet
author: Sally O Lee
genre: children
published: 2008
first line: Every Saturday, all the mothers who lived in the forest brought thier children to the local ballet class that was held in a small field under some very tall trees.
rated: 4 out of 5
Ms. Berry, the ballet teacher, is given a talented group of students. The students do not always do what Ms. Berry instructs them to do. A ballet emerges that suits the talents of her students and it is the best ballet ever. It is a story about tolerance, patience, creativity, teamwork, and love.
In The Tutu Ballet, Ms. Berry teaches her students as thier mothers proudly watch. Each of her students excels at one ballet move. Belinda the bear does a great high leg kick, Harriet the hare makes the most wonderful twirls in the world, Fillipo the fox is good at jumping and Mirabel the mouse does a great plie. In the end, they all work together to perform a wonderful ballet.
'The audience cheered, and it was the best ballet ever.'
It's a story about teamwork, patience and acceptance. As usual Sally O Lee's book is filled with whimsical drawings that grab your attention and add to the sweetness of the story.
My daughter (8) read this book to me and she really liked it. When I asked her what did she think of it, she said: "It was a good book, and there was nothing bad about it. I liked the cute pictures."
