Boehner and Cantor holding the President hostage
It amounts to political blackmail, just to hold that threat over the President and the Democrats.
Republicans used the passage of a three-week spending bill in the House on Tuesday to ramp up pressure on Democrats and President Obama, saying he has “yet to truly weigh in” on the budget.
We have seen what these ruthless, shameless Republicans can do. They already successfully blackmailed the President when they got their two year tax extension FOR the very rich or they would not allow extension of unemployment benefits. You got that right? The Republicans now have precedent, now they are emboldened to continue their tactics of blackmailing the President.
How this is all going to play out is still an enigma. I can tell you what I would do if I were the President; I would tell the Republicans to go ahead and shut down the government. Let the blame and the misery of the American people crush any hopes of the GOP ever taking the White House and fill any other Congressional vacancies. The Republicans have no idea what the wrath of the American people can do when they realize that once more it is the Republicans who are making their lives miserable.
