Repudiate the rhetoric that encourages violence and the myth of gold being an alternative for our currency.
The deranged individual who made that odious attack (allegedly) and killed six people, wounded Congresswoman Giffords critically; was a proponent of “IN GOLD WE TRUST” instead of “”IN GOD WE TRUST”. We still don’t know the details of his insane ideology but it has a lot of commonalities with the Tea Bag movement and their dislike for paper currency. Those proponents of backing our currency with gold and those opportunists trying to sell us gold while scaring the living shit out of us are selling us a bill of goods.
In the first place; gold is a precious metal, granted, and it is a commodity; but there just not enough of it to back a currency of a large country such as ours with trillions upon trillions of dollars with the equivalent worth stowed away somewhere in Fort Knox.
Second, the inflated, outrageous prices these gold merchants are trying to sell the public are not worth what the selling price is. Sadly, they find some asshole like Glenn Beck who will use fear and lies to justify an alarmist position; according to these gold pushers our country is on its last legs.
While I have expressed in the past the dangers of the decimation of our middle class and the consequences that has to our being a strong and affluent country, I know that if we fight the ultra-right conservatives to prevent them from destroying our America…everybody’s America; then our demise will not happen. But make no mistake about it…if any harm comes to America it comes from the right and not the left. We have warned about the Sharon Angle’s Second Amendment Option and Sarah Palin’s crosshairs ad; which happened to have as one of its targets Congresswoman Giffords.
Seen another way; if we are as a nation have the misfortune of a devastating 
crisis; gold will be worthless because nobody would have money to buy the gold that is hoarded. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that all that gold will not eventually make its way into the hands of the super rich and you will have spent all your life savings because you listened to Glenn Beck.
If you don’t believe that the price these gold pushers are asking is hyper-inflated all you have to do is gather all the old broken gold chains and bracelets you have; that single earring that lost its partner, the wedding ring from your fifth marriage, the gold coin that grandpa gave you for your tenth birthday and send it in to one of those places that buy gold and see how much you get for all this stuff.
