Even though the lockout is still on, the trade talk is heating up between teams. Here is where the top players on the trading block will end up.
Kolb is the hottest trading commodity in the NFL this year. Which is crazy considering he was the Eagles starting QB on Week 1 of the 2010 season. Of course injuries and Michael Vick's rebirth didn't help his case in Philly. Now the Eagles are trying to get rid of him and teams are listening. Most notably the Cardinals and Sehawks. I think that the Seahawks are going to re-sign Matt Hasselbeck, as head coach Pete Carrol has already stated. The Cardinals are a perfect fit for Kolb, because Arizona already runs the west coast system and has a pro bowl wide reciever (Larry Fitzgerald) that makes any QB's job easy. Expect this deal to get done immediately after the lockout ends. Here is more proof on why Hasselbeck will stay in Seattle.
Donovan McNabb, QB Redskins
Destination: Minnesota
When the Eagles traded McNabb to the Redskins, their NFC East rivals, everybody thought the Eagles were crazy. The Redskins were the ones who looked crazy after McNabb failed. In his defense, Washington didn't have enough talent for McNabb to succed. Even though McNabb is past his prime, he is one of the best QB's on the trade market. He needs the right situation (unlike Washington) in order to succed. Arizona would be an ideal fit considering he has a home there and trained with some of the Cardinals players this offseason. Of course, McNabb's former teammate, Kevin Kolb, would be a better one. So, I think #5 will end up in the Twin Cities. Minnesota did draft a QB (Christian Ponder) but the Vikings have already stated that they are still interested in McNabb. McNabb's arrival in Minnesota also can lure one of the Vikings key free agents, Sidney Rice, to stay. This seems like a matchup made in fantasy football and I think a deal will get done once a CBA gets done.
Steve Smith, WR Panthers
Destination: San Diego
Over the past decade, Steve Smith has been one of the most explosive (and vocal) wide recievers in the NFL. Due to the fact that Carolina is in a rebuilding stage and he can't turn back time, Smith wants out. He says the three teams he wants to go to are the Chargers, Ravens, or Raiders. It would be a bad fit in Oakland considering he would probably be the #1 WR, which Smith has already stated he no longer wants to be. Since San Diego has expressed interest unlike Baltimore, I say he will head to So Cal. Smith would be able to play with one of the best QB's in the NFL, Phillip Rivers, and also be the #2 WR if Vincent Jackson doesn't get traded away. This is even a bigger dream for fantasy football fans then the scenario I explained earlier. Gates, Jackson, Matthews, and Rivers would make one heck of an offense and could give San Diego that missing piece they have needed for a while.
Kyle Orton, QB Broncos
Destination: Miami
A lot of QB's on this list. While Kyle Orton won't be looked at like guys like Kevin Kolb and Donovan McNabb, he does put up some solid numbers. Thats saying something considering he was on the second worst team in the league last year. With Tebow's time coming in Denver, its time for both sides to part ways. Where would be a better place then the home of his former teammate, Miami? I don't think Brandon Marshall wants Chad Henne throwing to him for the next five years and if head coach Tony Sparano wants to keep his job, he will get Orton. The best thing about this fit is that Miami didn't draft a QB, so Orton doesn't have to worry about someone taking his job like in Denver. Miami would also profit considering that they would have a talented QB in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL, the AFC East.
