It means to me that it is not just for celebrations and parades but also to remind everyone that there are places in this world where people are even executed for being gay.
Let us continue our vigil for violations in Iran, Uganda, most of the Muslim countries and yes…Russia and the former Soviet satellites where homophobia runs unchecked.

Let us never forget Harvey Milk, Mathew Shepard, Ryan White, Tyler Clementi and all the thousands of teens who rather than face humiliation and rejection for being gay – opted to take their lives.
Let us also not forget those homophobes in our society, those hateful bible pushing women like Carrie Prajean, Anita Bryant and the Mormon Church for spewing hatred, lies and vitriol against gays who only want to have the same rights as everyone else. .Yes, they may be very beautiful on the outside...even beauty queens, but inside they are ugly and despicable..
This month we should also be grateful and thank servicemen who protested and fought valiantly against Don’t ask, don’t tell and were subjected to some of the harshest treatment and rejection but came through holding their heads very high…thank you Victor Fehrenbach and Dan Choi.
