IT WILL GO IN THE BACKBURNER AGAIN
We are faced with a new harsh reality: the hopes for IMMIGRATION REFORM are dim if not impossible. Why do I say that? Because Republicans with the new gains in the House of Representatives will not ever, it will be a cold day in hell type of ever that they will tackle the issue of IMMIGRATION REFORM.
You see, you can’t outsource picking the fruits and vegetables, you can’t send the dirty linen to Pakistan to be washed and the beds made at the Holiday Inn. You will not be able to have your table waited on from India nor will you have your floors mopped miraculously from China. So that in order to keep wages down in America and also bring down the cost of labor Republicans will never tackle it.
The story with ENDA and Don’t Ask Don’t Tell will be pretty much the same. You see, those are culture wars issues the Republicans want to “SAVE” for the Presidential elections in 2012 so they can energize their Fundamentalist-Evangelical base.
What do we have to look forward to in the next two years? N-O-T-H-I-N-G, ZILCH, NADA, RIEN. If you think that the Republicans were obstructionists trying to sabotage any political gains for President Obama in the past two years it will be 10 times worse. Welcome to the new Teahadist-Republican America.
