Musing Mondays 12.1

Musing Mondays 12.1 asks:

With the holiday season now upon us, how does it affect your reading? Do you have more, or less, time to read at Christmas? Do you read Christmas themed/related books?

I tend to read a bit less during the holidays. I'm just too busy to get as much reading time in as i'd like. If I see an interesting holiday themed book, I will pick it up. A fav of mine is A Holiday for Murder by Agatha Christie.

If you're in the mood for a good Holiday themed mystery, pick it up. This one does not dissapoint.

It is Christmas Eve. The Lee family reunion is shattered by a deafening crash of furniture, followed by a high-pitched wailing scream. Upstairs, the tyrannical Simeon Lee lies dead in a pool of blood, his throat slashed. But when Hercule Poirot, who is staying in the village with a friend for Christmas, offers to assist, he finds an atmosphere not of mourning but of mutual suspicion.

But if you're in the mood for something a bit milder, I recommend Little Women by Louisa May Alcott It's technically not a Christmas read, but it's got Christmas in it. It's one of those cozy reads you can warm up to during the holidays.

The beautiful Meg, artistic tomboy Jo, doomed Beth, and selfish Amy: since the publication of Little Women in 1869, these four sisters have become America’s most beloved literary siblings. Louisa May Alcott’s rich and realistic portrait has inspired three movies and stirred the emotions of countless young girls. Set in New England during the Civil War, the novel follows the adventures of the March sisters as they struggle to pursue their dreams.

What about you? How do the Holidays affect your reading? Do you have any good Holiday themed books to share?
