It is something the Republican-Teahadists know how to do well
We have traveled this route before; the Republicans will pick a very important issue having to do with funding the government, extending unemployment benefits and now it is the debt ceiling. They will threaten and blackmail the whole country if they don’t get their way.
“The notion that President Obama hasn't put forth a fiscal plan is absolutely ludicrous. (Even Boehner must remember it, because Paul Ryan was sobbing like a little child afterwards.)
The issue is that John Boehner doesn't agree with President Obama's fiscal plan. That's his right, but claiming that Obama doesn't have one is total garbage. And putting the full faith and credit of the United States on the line in a ham-fisted attempt to twist Obama's arm is deplorable.
Yesterday, freshman House Republicans left a meeting with Tim Geithner saying they weren't happy that the Obama administration hadn't endorsed their foolish fiscal policies, taking us one step closer to default.
Financial backers for House Republicans think this is all just a big joke, and that in the end, a deal will get done. Well, they simply aren't listening to what House Republicans are saying, which is that unless a comprehensive fiscal policy is agreed to, there won't be a deal, and that the only comprehensive fiscal policy they will accept is their own.
The only way the debt limit is going to get raised is if Republicans get reasonable. And I don't see that happening. Who knows what the exact odds are, but given the GOP's utter unwillingness to deal with the debt limit as a problem that needs to be solved, there is a very real possibility that we will enter into full-scale default on our obligations.
As they always do, Republicans are counting on Democrats to be the adults in the room. The only problem is that this time Republicans control the House. And unless they walk away from the ledge, this thing is going to go south—and fast.”
In the meantime, Republicans are gloating that the employment figures are coming in showing there is little growth. It is surprising that these unemployment figures are not higher, considering the amount of sabotage and opposition the Republicans have put up in the past two years. As far as they are concerned these job killing measures are necessary to make Obama a one term President and if a lot of Americans lose their jobs…as John Boehner puts it: “SO BE IT”
I just hope that the American voter remembers when the next election comes around who is responsible for their misery; first for causing it and not cooperating to fix it and second for openly legislating measures that would actually cut jobs or cause an increase in the budget debt. To some of us their actions are transparently clear…Fuck the people so that Democrats get tangled up in trying to defend the things Republicans have made sure will not work.
What really is pissing me off and I am not alone in this…is that the Republicans are saying that the President is unwilling to compromise or sit down and negotiate…far from being the truth the reason they are saying that is that as usual, if you disagree with anything they say or their ideology then you are an adversary, an unpatriotic American or worst a Socialist, Muslim-Kenyan born terrorist.
WAKE UP AMERICA…THE REPUBLICANS WANT TO SELL YOU A BILL OF GOODS ONCE MORE! IF TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS WAS SO GREAT AND WORKED…WOULD WE NOT BE SWIMMING IN JOBS RIGHT NOW?
