This is something nobody has even mentioned
There were a lot of Republicans and Teahadists who were insisting in letting us go into default and they thought the whole thing was a contrived, artificial deadline that was set by the President. They were warned and told what the cataclysmic consequences would be…they dismissed it as just nonsense and we got closer and closer to the date.
Economist after economist warned us of this impending doom. The Republican-Teahadist thought it was bunk…treated it in much the same way they deal with climate change. It was a question of having ideology prevail over common sense…the Republican-Teahadists couldn’t give a shit about the American people and the future of our country…as long as they got what they wanted…and did.
I pose this question: If this raising the debt limit was not all that important, not real and no adverse consequences would derive from it…then why did President Obama capitulate? Do you think for a moment that if this wasn’t a matter of severe damage to the economy that our President would have capitulated and allowed himself to be BLACKMAILED?
