On Wednesday, the main players and owners in the labor negotiations met again and tried to get closer to a deal before the deadline on July 21st. Three of the main plaintiffs in the case against the NFL, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees said that the NFL needs to make a deal more fair to the players. The players have already stated that they have compromised on everything so far, while the owners are saying the same exact thing. Now to this James Harrison story. Many players during the lockout have said some controversial things; from Rashard Mendenhall's 9/11 tweets to Reggie Bush's vacation time during the lockout. In a interview with 'Men's Health' Harrison didn't only criticize commissioner Roger Goodell but also fellow teammates like Ben Roethlisberger. Harrison said about Goodell, "If that man was on fire and I had to piss to put him out, I wouldn't do it. I hate him and I will never respect him." Wow. I know that Goodell is to blame for this lockout and I have lost a lot of respect for him (as have many NFL fans), but those comments are just unnecessary. Then Harrison said that franchise QB Ben Roethlisberger, "acted to much like Peyton Manning," during the Steelers Super Bowl loss to the Packers. Harrison also thought of some neat nicknames for his teammates like Rashard "fumble machine" Mendenhall. Maybe I can understand those comments regarding Goodell, but your teammates? The guys who back you up no matter what happens? Harrison just stabbed his team in the back and is also giving the NFL a bad name. When this lockout is over, the Steelers need to release Harrison because he might get more fines then he did last season.
