It seems that the NFL will stay in tact without a labor dispute for some time, as owners approved the new CBA 31-0. Who would of guessed that the one team opposed would be Al Davis and the Raiders? Now with the owners making up their minds, the ball is in the players court. Demaurice Smith and the 32 player representatives will have a conference call tonight, but it is unknown if the players will vote on the new CBA. If they do vote yes (remember they need a 60% vote) then the facilities would open up Saturday and the new league year would begin Wednesday. It will no doubt be a fast and furious free agent market, but only if the NFLPA recertifies as a union. While we are still 17 days away from the Hall of Fame Game between the Rams and Bears, it has been cancelled and is the first casualty of the lockout (while hopefully being the last). I will have more from the players conference call after it is over. Keep your fingers crossed football fans.
