Why do we have to commit the same mistakes over and over again and not change our ways?
In Spanish we have a saying that basically says that man goes down a path and trips over a rock and falls; upon his return down the same path he trips over the same rock again while a dog goes down the same path and trips but upon its return it will go around the rock.
The Roman Empire and its imperial dominance was decimated by feudalism; feudalism in turn succumbed to the monarchical form of governing…then it too yielded to colonialism and ultimately colonialism gave way to democracy. Now we are facing a new threat and it is the destruction of democracy being substituted by a plutocracy…but rest assured that this too will pass as plutocracy will perish in the hands of theocracy.
What you hear from the Republican talking points is that the reason we have unemployment so high is because the wealthy and the corporations are insecure about the future, yet, these have been making unprecedented profits. The argument does not hold water since these super wealthy and corporations have been enjoying low tax rates and tax cuts larger than we have seen in 60 years.
Nobody should buy into this crap…we know different…because when you give money to the rich they will hold on to it instead of putting it to work and letting it percolate down into the general population…case in point: today the wealthy are sitting on 3 trillion dollars that is idle.
No, my friends, President Reagan was dead wrong: TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS doesn’t work, it never will.
