The NFL lockout reached its 111th day today and even though fans have gotten a positive sign that there will be as season, many owners and players are being "cautiously optimistic" about the end of the work stoppage. Many fans need to remember that rumors brought together by the media are exactly that, rumors. So fans also need to be cautiously optimistic as well. While I am pretty sure there will be a full regular season, there are still a lot of questions on whether or not there will be a full preseason and training camps. While most fans don't care about either of those, there is always that question. What if the talks blow up and the NFL doesn't get a deal until September? Even though it is highly unlikely, they would have to switch to the contingency plan the NFL put in place once the schedule came out. Here is what 2011 could look like for the defending Super Bowl Champions.
To sum up the NFL's contingency plan, week 3 games would be moved to the bye week which would cancel all the games played on week 2, 4, and 17 and move games on the docket of week 1 and 5 to the end of the season. Here is what the Packers schedule could look like.
Week 1- Rams at Packers
Week 2- Packers at Vikings
Week 3- Packers at Bears
Week 4- Packers at Chargers
Week 5- Vikings at Packers
Week 6- Bucs at Packers
Week 7- Packers at Lions
Week 8- Packers at Giants
Week 9- Raiders at Packers
Week 10- Packers at Chiefs
Week 11- Bears at Packers
Week 12- Saints at Packers
Week 13- Packers at Falcons
Under this plan, Green Bay would play six home games and seven away games. They would also play only five divisional games. For this plan to go into affect, the labor negotiations would have to stall and a deal would probably come somewhere in mid-September. To see what your teams schedule might look like, use the formula I explained above.
